What I thought of...Wolverine #5
Wolverine #5: Wolverine (with a tiny bit of help) takes on the evil entity that he's been battling since issue 1 of this series. And.....he's not doing so well.
The Good: THE WRITING! It's good, not great. This isn't the best issue that writer Paul Cornell has done. It's got plenty of action, a little intrigue, but doesn't do much to move the overall story forward. What it DOES have is some good Wolverine moments. Which is nice, because....
The Bad:..the art is NOT great. In fact, I hate to say it, it's almost not even good. I'm really shocked that Marvel couldn't find someone better than ARTHUR FONZERELLI to handle art chores on this issue. Seriously, not good.
The Verdict: Pass. It's the first chapter in a new, two issue story arc, and while I haven't read the second part yet, I'm really thinking that you can skip this story completely. It has terrible art and contributes nothing of value to the overall value of the series.

What you should buy.....3/13/13
This week it's quality over quantity. Just a few books that I'm recommending, but they are all REALLY REALLY good!!! Let's get to it!
Bionic Man Annual #1: First off, that's a really awesome cover. Second-VENUS DEATH PROBE!!!!
Star Wars #3: This book just keeps getting better!!! NO BATTLE DROIDS!!!!!! That should be enough for you right there.
Wolverine #1: Pick. Of. The. Week!!! You can check out my review of this book below. It's fantastic. Paul Cornell, Alan Davis, and The Wolverine. That should be enough for you to buy it, right there.
Age of Ultron #2: Yes, there are SERIOUS continuity flaws in this book. But, it's still really really good. Read it for what it is, and you'll have a great time!
Batman #18: Always awesome. 'Nuff Said!!
Ghostbusters #2: Not enough attention is paid to this book and Erik Burnham's writing, not to mention Dan Schoening's fantastic art. Great book, lots of fun!!
Sledge Hammer 44 #1: FINALLY!!!!! The no nonsense cop from the 80's returns in his very own comic book!!!! Trust him! He knows what he's doing!!....wait, what? This isn't about Sledge Hammer? Crap. Oh well, to make up for it, here's the opening credits of one of the best TV shows EVER!!
-You're welcome! As always, I'll be working at Challengers Comics + Conversation this Wednesday, so if you're in the Windy City, come on by and say hello!!!! Did I mention Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian from TNA Wrestling will be there? FOR REAL!!!!

What I thought of....(the) WOLVERINE #1
On Wednesday Marvel Comics launches a brand new ongoing Wolverine series called...Wolverine. Written by Paul Cornell with art by Alan Davis, this is one AWESOME book!! I'll admit, I'm a Wolverine guy. Not to the extreme that I would name my son Logan (seriously people, stop doing that) or get a Wolverine tattoo or anything else like that. BUT, he's probably my favorite X-men. Here's my take on this book..
THE GOOD: Just about EVERYTHING. Seriously. THIS is the Wolverine book that I want to read. It's Wolverine. And nobody else. No X-Men. No Avengers. Just him, being awesome. This reminded me a little bit of the very first Wolverine ongoing series back in the late 80's/early 90's. It was just him solo going on adventures and fighting super villains, and that's what we have here. The whole issue is Wolverine up against a normal looking guy. Now, that doesn't quite make sense until about halfway through the book when we find out, kind of, what's going on. This is everything you'd want in a Wolverine book. Action, badassery, and nudity. Great story and dialogue by Paul Cornell. As for the art-ALAN DAVIS everybody!!!! Do I need to tell you how awesome he is? No. No, I don't. It's great Alan Davis art, plain and simple.
THE BAD: Hmmmmmm. I'm really at a loss here. The only bad that I can think of is that I want to read the next issue RIGHT NOW. Honestly, there's really not much bad in this issue that I can criticize.
THE VERDICT: Seriously? Do I even need to write this? BUY IT!!! It's a GREAT book. You're gonna have a blast with this comic, you have my word on that.
